Isodiol is a manufacturer and producer of hemp-derived CBD products. They produce pure isolates and various CBD oils. At the time of writing this, CBD is federally legal in all 50 states under of the federal Controlled Substances Act (CSA) because for the last 30 years or so, products derived from mature hemp stalks and stems have been exempt.
The DEA already believes that CBD is a marijuana derivative and, is therefore a schedule 1 drug, but the mature stalks of a marijuana plant are not included in the definition of ‘marijuana’. The mature stalks contain little to no THC, and hemp is also not schedule 1, and therefore is not under the enforcement authority of the DEA.
Though the DEA has no enforcement power over hemp products, it does control hemp cultivation. In order to grow hemp in the U.S., you have to have a permit from the DEA which the DEA typically never issues. Because of the prohibition on hemp cultivation without a DEA permit, the hemp products we see in the U.S. typically come from hemp imported from overseas. This means that anything derived from hemp is legal.
With that in mind, it’s easy to see how a company growing a lot of industrial hemp overseas can make a decent dent in the US market—especially when you remember they are unhindered by federal law.
The process to turn this beautiful, lush hemp field into something more legal starts out with a large scale super-critical CO2 extraction. The extract is then brought into a lab in the UK where it goes through some distillation processes, leaving a 99% crystalline CBD. There even is a unique tariff code used for import. The final product is considered a hemp oil that has been properly processed.
From that state, it goes into some functional ingredients. The crystals are then nano-sized and encapsulated in a liposomal layer. This is supposedly a much better carrier than most standard oils used for topicals because it matches the skin a lot more closely than those oils.
You can get this product as a bulk ingredient or as a finished product under a private label deal with Isodiol. They also carry several of water-soluble nano emulsions. One is CBD Nano Ultra, which is pure CBD in a water soluble form.
Isodiol is also producing a new product called Heneplex. It is a terpene-infused CBD hemp mixture that is put into a special nano-emulsion.
